Scott Garthwaite also known by his TV name Punk Chef, is a professional Chef and a TV Chef Presenter. He has appeared in several TV cooking shows showcasing sign language with food which has made him one of the first celebrity Deaf chef to emerge in mainstream television.
Unfolding Theatre
Unfolding Theatre was founded in 2008 in Newcastle upon Tyne by Artistic Director, Annie Rigby. Since then, they have toured to audiences across the UK and collaborated with top creative thinkers, including young people, artists and community groups.
North East Deaf Youth Theatre
Launched in Summer 2022 to support deaf children and young people to develop their creative skills, build confidence and form new friendships.
Vet Workshop
Julie Beckett is a deaf veterinary nurse assistant and animal care assistant who works at a veterinary practice in the North East and has been there for 17 years. She has been profoundly deaf from birth and uses British Sign Language (BSL).
Puppet Show
The Wey Aye Deaf Festival crew will be delivering a fantastic puppet workshop! Children can choose and create their own puppet and take it home giving them many hours of fun and laughter!

Real Arts Workshops (R.A.W.)
Based in the West Midlands, Real Arts Workshops (R.A.W.) – is led by graphic designer, artist and musician Alex Vann, and profoundly Deaf crafter and BSL tutor Gary O’Dowd and provides high-quality, tailor-made Creative Arts Workshops with integrated British Sign Language for all sorts of learners including those who may not always have access to the Arts.

The Click Click Club
The Click Click Club is here for Deaf people or BSL users who are interested in learning about photography!
Click Click Club welcomes all those with a strong personal interest in photography, amateur or professional, acknowledged artist or enthusiastic novice.
Danny’s Skits
Danny Murphy, who is deaf, has amassed a huge international fan-base with his humorous take on life which he first shared from the age of eight in home-made videos on YouTube. He has 100,000 followers on Facebook and has made several comedy videos which have 5-10 million views.
MINDFULNESS with Denise Armstrong
Denise is a professional performer, director and choreographer specialising in Sign Theatre. Denise’s career has spanned almost 4 decades and she has trained, performed and made work all over the world.
Denise trained in and studied Theatre of the Deaf (theatre in education, drama in education, sign theatre, film) at Bulmershe court, Reading University.
