Our Mission and Vision

Our Mission

A North East cultural and creative community that embraces all of its diverse creative community; a place for local D/deaf artists to be a more visible part of the wider cultural community in the North East and a place where our D/deaf creatives can help shape a better, richer creative future for our region raising aspirations, building stronger communities and breaking down barriers. Providing opportunities for all to see and celebrate D/deaf artistic practice and experience the depth and richness of communication through the universal language of creativity.

Our Vision

Bring D/deaf* and hearing artists together to form a D/deaf led but inclusive co-production cultural partnership. The first program aimed for November 2024 will be one that enables, nurtures and supports long term anyone who is D/deaf who is studying, working in, aspiring to be a creative professional. This first programme will be in the form of a festival in Gateshead-Newcastle in various locations and displaying emerging D/deaf and established Deaf talent from our region. The festival will cover visual, performing arts and craft-based practices.
