Wey Aye! Deaf Festival is thrilled to announce a new partnership with Northeast based Becoming Visible, a forward-thinking Deaf organisation with its heart firmly in the d/Deaf, British Sign Language community.
They have been established since 2003 and are the longest serving specialist BSL/English Interpreting/Translation service in the region led by Deaf and Hearing people and they will be providing a team of trainee and qualified interpreters to cover both the workshops and evening performances for the Friday 1st November and Saturday 2nd November. This new partnership is a massive boost for the Wey Aye! Deaf Festival and is much appreciated.
Becoming Visible expertise in Interpreting/translation and commitment to quality aligns perfectly with our mission where our deaf creatives can help shape a better, richer creative future for our region raising aspirations, building stronger communities and breaking down barriers. Providing opportunities for all to see and celebrate deaf artistic practice and experience the depth and richness of communication through the universal language of creativity. This collaboration with Becoming Visible will empower us to reach and serve a broader audience, making our resources accessible to everyone regardless of language.
We invite everyone to join us as we embark on this journey to foster inclusivity and understanding.
On behalf of the Wey Aye! Deaf Festival Team we are delighted that Becoming Visible are supporting this festival
